Ellis shipper LADY CONSTANCE drops and cuts back off a near-lifetime fig. Broke the maiden going 6 furlongs VS GP specials. No other girl in this this one is giving me a thrill but I may be diddling with the Heinz 57 bombers. |

The 8/5 opening chalk JUMP FOR JOY flashes me back to high school: At the party all the boys were feeling merry but at midnight Merry had to go home. So all the boys jumped for joy but Joy left at 12:30. The Three/Five will be racing for my DD. |

LADY CONSTANCE was the type of runner that in a short field ought to pull a young fellow to the fifty window at 35 cents to the dollar beyond evens. But I'm not young and I blow my fifties now on cat food, cat litter and groceries. I did wager on her though - I thought $4.70 was a good return. The farmers and tourists are a bright bunch today - the $5.40 winner in Race 2 is the payday so far. I get the $12.60 DD and send off another one. |
