I wasn't around for that action but I served as a young Marine with Sergeant Major George W. Dinning for a bit.
Dinning was a corporal of Marines aboard the battleship U.S.S. Tennessee (BB-43) on December 7th, 1941. He and a few shipmates got a 3-inch anti-aircraft gun into action that day.
WWII, Korea and Vietnam - helluva Marine was Sgt./Maj. George W. Dinning.
