After the nightcap at Aqueduct it was time to feed the cats outside. Unlike fresh mackerel, canned mackerel comes with a yellow scum and a slight stink but cats love it. When I open a can with the wife nearby she bends over in agony while gagging. Nobody wants to eat bones so I dig into the mackerel carcasses with my fingers to pull out the spines. When I laid out the Friday night cat dinner five of eight cats were gunning for the mackerel.
